1. Always at it wins the day.

2. An enterprise, when fairly once begun, should not be left till all that ought is won.

3. As a camel beareth labour, and heat, and hunger, and thirst, through deserts of sand, and fainteth not; so the fortitude of a man shall sustain him through all perils.

4. Constancy is the complement of all other human virtues.

5. Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

6. Diligence increases the fruit of toil. A dilatory man ever wrestles with losses.

7. Diligence is the mother of good fortune.

8. Diligence is the mother of good luck, and God gives all things to industry. Work while it is called to-day, for you know not how much you may be hindered by tomorrow. One to - day is worth two tomorrows; never leave that till to-morrow which you can do to-day.

10. Good fortune and misfortune take effect through perseverance. The way of heaven and earth becomes visible through perseverance. The way of sun and moon become bright through perseverance. All movements under heaven become uniform through perseverance.

11. Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance. Yonder palace was raised by single stones, yet you see its height and spaciousness. He that shall walk with vigour three hours a day will pass in seven years a space equal to the circumference of the globe.

12. Happy are those that persevere to the end, for they shall inherit the earth.

13. He who does not tire, tires adversity.

14. He who labours diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labour.

15. He will reward them, on account of their having persevered, with a garden and silk dress: reclining therein upon thrones, they shall not see either the sun or biting cold, and the shades of the garden shall be close upon them, and its fruits shall be within easy reach.
